Biography
Brenda Murphy is a doctoral candidate and the director of SailAway, a private K-12 educational organization that develops MicroSchools for children who fall through cracks. She brings an eclectic background of theater and film, consumer public relations, and homeschooling to her research interests and activities. She homeschooled five sons and is the grandmother of 9.
Brenda holds a B.A. from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, an M.B.A. from Lamar University (Beaumont, TX), and anticipates her Ph.D. in Education from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in May 2019. While at UTK, she participated in and presented with the Transdisciplinary Phenomenolgoy Research Group as well as CHATTER’D, the cultural historical and activity theory/design thinking research group.
