Biography

I am an assistant professor at Carson Newman University in the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling. I teach courses in the education program. I am from Eastern Kentucky and taught high school there for seven years in alternative and mainstream schools. I am passionate about social and environmental justice and education’s role in making positive change in those arenas. In my graduate program, I focused my research on classroom climate and place- and community-based education. My dissertation examines the transformative potential of student-student relationships in a higher education setting. I am coauthor of The Phenomenological Heart of Teaching and Learning which includes research, theory, and practice regarding phenomenological teaching and learning.
