2020 Conference on Higher Education Pedagogy

A few members of the Transdisciplinary Phenomenology Research Group presented at the 2020 Conference on Higher Education Pedagogy held at Virginia Tech February 5-7. Members of the group have been presenting at the conference since 2012.

On Thursday, Kathy Greenberg and Brian Sohn presented a research session titled, From Chaos to Transformation: Lived Experiences of Ungraded Students. Lauren Moret was part of the research team but was unable to attend the conference. In the presentation they built on phenomenological education research based around the 2019 publication of Greenberg et al., The Phenomenological Heart of Teaching and Learning. This research highlights the transformative learning experiences of graduate students in a required online course focused on struggling learners. Our presenters shared a thematization of post-course online reflections. Those who attended the presentation were eager to learn more about the course and the research.
